Have you ever spoken at conferences before?  Which ones?

Yep! I speak at several conferences every year…
  • Prospershow (a show for Amazon sellers)
  • Rhodium Weekend
  • Pubcon
  • Affiliate Summit
  • Ungagged

Have you written a book or books – how many?

Not like Jerry. 🙂 The only books I’ve written are e-books. I’ve written a few of these, most of which can be found on https://www.quietlightbrokerage.com/resources

What are you most proud of from your work in the past two years?

Wow, this is a difficult one. Can I list not going certifiably insane? It’s been much more of an accomplishment than you might think!
I think I am most proud of the culture that I’ve built in a “secular” company (Quiet Light Brokerage). Most of that industry (online acquisitions of web based businesses) is driven by profit maximization and greed. Many of my competitors are focused solely on making as much money as they can.
Quiet Light has distinguished itself as being a company filled with people who will look out for buyers and sellers best interests. One of our core values is to be “recklessly honest” – being honest even if it causes us to lose business. As a result, we often tell our clients to not sell when it is not in their best interest (even though we lose out on a commission) or we’ll tell a buyer that they may want to back out of a deal where necessary.
There’s been pressure to get into profit maximization mode over the years, but we’ve resisted that urge. The result has been a reputation that is hard to beat.

What achievements of yours impress employers or clients the most?

Usually having six kids. 🙂 I think having six kids who are homeschooled* and owning two businesses usually catches someone’s attention.
*My wife does the homeschooling. I take absolutely no credit since I don’t put in the time.

Who is the greatest motivator or speaker you have listened to?  What advice have you taken from them to help you professionally?
Hmmm…that’s a good question as well. I actually am a bit odd in that I don’t listen to motivational speakers.
Business-wise, I follow Neil Patel pretty closely as I’m always stunned by the volume of content his team produces and the results they generate.

Jerry Windley-Daoust

Jerry

Have you written a book or books – how many?
After editing stints with a small business magazine and Saint Mary’s Press (where I worked on high school religion textbooks), I was a stay-at-home dad for ten years. During that time, I started a parish-based parenting group called Parenting with the Spirit, launched a family-based parish catechesis program, and ran two websites — Creative Honeymoon Ideas (now defunct) and Catholic Wedding Help, which I sold in 2012 to Our Sunday Visitor; they still operate it.
I also did marketing and website optimization work.
I’ve written more than a dozen books, and published hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles. Once upon a time, I also wrote fiction, and won the 1997 Tamarack Award for short fiction.
What are you most proud of from your work in the past two years?
Proudest accomplishment in the past two years? I suppose building a small publishing operation from the ground up*, mostly bootstrapped…doubling or tripling growth year over year, and publishing dozens of books that help Catholic families. Really, for such a small organization, what we’ve accomplished in terms of our reach is pretty stunning — 100,000+ unique visitors a year, doubling every year or so, and selling thousands of books around the world.
