If there is one book this year that I wish I could give to everybody, this is it! The Twelve Steps and the Sacraments on Amazon Like most people, I struggle with a family member who is an alcoholic. I struggle to understand them, reach out, and have any kind of a conversation with them. They have been wounded by alcoholism and depression for more than 20 years, and our lives took radically different turns. They have also been through several different AA or AA-type programs, plus a long stint in rehab, and are still drinking. Enter: a really useful book that helped me start to understand where they are coming from and the things they have suffered. read more…

As Catholics, we are incredibly blessed to have the holy Sacraments.

Two of the seven Sacraments are known as Sacraments of Healing:  Anointing of the Sick and Reconciliation.

See more gifts for Anointing of the Sick and Reconciliation in this Gift Catalog.

The greatest Catholic gifts of healing are those Sacraments.

Both sin and illness are harmful indeed, and the grace that God offers us in the Sacraments is an extraordinary gift.

However, there are times when we see a very closed friend or loved one suffering – and we want to give something more than prayers.  Prayers are so wonderful to offer for others.  Prayers and having Masses said for a person are priceless gifts.  These should be given!

If you want to add to those prayers . . .

It’s a tradition of Catholics to honor our God in different ways each month.  The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Perhaps it’s not a coincidence that the secular world celebrates much of what is contrary to Jesus’ humble heart in the same month.

Our goal is to help spread awareness of Jesus’ heart and immense love to all – so that anyone who yearns for His truth and goodness, can find it a little easier.

A group of bloggers from our community took time to write blog posts about the Sacred Heart and offer resources to help you grow in faith.  Here are some of those articles and resources.

Social Media is Wasting Your Life and Sucking Your Time–Or is it?

by Jessica Castillo | Jun 2, 2022 | Promo posts

This post was written by Jessica Castillo, founder of A Thriving Catholic.

“Well, if Jesus knocks me off my horse and tells me to open an Instagram account, then I will.”

I was on a lunchtime walk with my husband about a year ago when I made this snarky remark. I had been officially in business for a little over a year at that point and was talking with my husband about how slowly my business was growing and how I couldn’t seem to find potential clients.

He pointed out to me that I needed to be on social media.

That I should probably start an Instagram account.

Sound advice–but I wasn’t willing to hear it.

“When people have told me that because I am a Catholic, I cannot be an artist, I have had to reply, ruefully, that because I am a Catholic, I cannot afford to be less than an artist.” – Flannery O’Connor

The World is Hungry for Powerful Stories

Storytelling is one of the oldest art forms.

In an interview with The Central Minnesota Catholic, author Tim Drake stated, “Christ himself used stories, and so must we.” He talked about the Catholic Literary Imagination and its attempt to “convey truths through stories.”

Those of us who are Catholic storytellers can’t be afraid to share our faith through our characters and their stories. In fact, those truth-telling stories are needed and wanted today more than ever, and most readers don’t even realize it.
